Werewolf

A werewolf, also known as a lycanthrope, was a creature which normally resembled a human being but, upon the complete rising of the full moon, became an uncontrollable, fearsome and deadly wolf. This condition was caused by infection with lycanthropy, also known as werewolfry. Werewolves were almost indistinguishable in appearance from the true wolf. The real difference was in behaviour. A mixture of powdered silver and dittany applied to a fresh werewolf bite would seal the wound and allow the victim to live on...
